A few months ago we launched our plans for the next couple of years at a meeting with leaders of community groups and organisations, and we’d now like to share these more widely.
As always, our priority is connecting the people of Corby to enjoyable, surprising and high-quality arts experiences, offering our audiences the chance to try something new and inspiring local people to take the lead in creating new arts activities and events for our town and borough. To do this, we’re putting together a range of events and activities that make use of the beautiful open spaces in our town, such as the Grow Festival, and projects like our Living Legends: Hidden Histories exhibition that reflect the growing and changing population of our borough.
One of the main ways we reach our audiences is by working closely with community groups and voluntary sector organisations. In the past, we’ve worked with neighbourhood associations, local businesses, walking groups, a day centre for adults with learning disabilities, schools and sheltered housing complexes. These partnerships help us to reach local people who might not normally attend arts events and community groups to offer something different and exciting to their members. We know that working in partnership with community groups benefits everyone and we’re keen to do more of it!
Moving forward, we want to increase the community groups we work with and we’re particularly looking for groups and organisations that work with older people or pre-school children (and their families!). In the autumn we will be launching a new programme of taster sessions specifically designed for these groups – so please do get in touch or sign up for the newsletter if you would like to get involved.
