Made In Corby Awarded National Lottery Funding for new project with diverse communities
Made In Corby has received £10,000 from the National Lottery Fund through Awards For All for a new and exciting project with diverse communities in Corby. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project aims to celebrate cultural diversity in Corby through various workshops, performances and exhibitions.
To reflect the changing population in Corby, this project will be developed by a community decision-making panel drawn from local residents who were born outside of the UK. This community panel will commission an artist to deliver community art workshops and create a celebration event in Autumn 2018.
The artists will create 10 family art workshops that will focus on bringing Corby’s international communities together and increasing the wider population’s understanding of their cultures and histories.
Made In Corby Programme Director, Helen Willmott said: “We are delighted to receive this funding from Awards For All, which means that we are now able to produce a project that local people have been consistently asking for. It is an exciting opportunity to bring the different communities in our town together in a project designed by them.”
We are now looking for people to help us shape this project by becoming a volunteer panel member. Being a decision maker on this project means that you will be able to develop new skills and collaborate with others to create a unique experience for the people of Corby. This is the perfect opportunity to share and celebrate your country’s culture as well as meeting new people from all over the world!
Join our Community Panel and share your culture!
Any Corby resident born outside of the UK can be a panel member. To be considered for one of the panel places, you must fill out an Community Panel Expression of Interest Form and we will be in touch. Find out more about the role HERE
